Qualifications

An Associate's Degree in mechanical design and a minimum of six years related experience. Must have proven experience in the engineer-to-order machinery / robotic industry (i.e. construct, manufacturing, assembling, designing outdoor robotic systems). While the position is for mechanical design in nature, a basic knowledge of electrical components and systems is required.

Work you’ll do

• Completes specialized design, detailing and checking of complex mechanisms, processes or equipment installations with minimum supervision. Ensures that designs conform to national and international standards as required.
• Responsible for the mechanical design of machinery and mechanical systems used on machines.
• Responsible for development, accuracy and maintenance of mechanical drawing packages as assigned, including layouts, details, assemblies and schematics.
• Specifies materials, components, heat treatments and manufacturing methods.
• Assists purchasing, manufacturing, assembly and service with procurement, fabrication, assembly, debugging and start-up of specific machinery or processes.
• Provides direction to other designers and drafters as required.
• Prepares reports and estimates, and participates in design reviews as required. This may involve contact with equipment vendors, marketing personnel and the customer.
• Responsible for the structuring of bills of material, including information concerning machinery assembly.

Required

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 3D CAD (AutoDesk Fusion 360 is highly preferred, SolidWorks)
• 6+ years of machine design experience
• Metallurgy
• Force load calculations
• FEA/Stress Analysis

Preferred

• Any CAM Software knowledge
• Design of motion systems

A Typical Week

• Design and Prototype
• Help define and maintain with other designers
• Manually test new and existing features.
• Develop yourself and join in elsewhere (it’s a small team and there’s always work to jump into).
